Time Marches On
A member of The Silent Generation, Maynard Posner is a New Yorker of a bygone era. Son of a Russian-Jewish immigrant who fled religious persecution in what is now Ukraine, Maynard grew up in Queens, a Brooklyn Dodger fan. He inherited the family plastic manufacturing business, another guy walking the streets of Manhattan’s Flatiron District. An officer in the New York National Guard, Maynard was once stationed for a time at the armory at E. 34th Street and Park Avenue. He married a girl from the Bronx, became a father of two, and eventually a grandfather of 5. These days he peacefully enjoys his winter years with his wife in a house on Long Island.
Maynard has been my role model for all of my life, someone whose actions have always spoken louder than his words. He is an everyman of a rapidly disappearing generation.
