Time Marches On
A member of The Silent Generation, Maynard Posner was a New Yorker of a bygone era. Son of a Russian-Jewish immigrant who fled religious persecution in what is now Ukraine, Maynard grew up in Queens, a Brooklyn Dodger fan. He inherited the family plastic manufacturing business, and was stationed for a time at the armory at E. 34th Street and Park Avenue during his time as an officer in the New York National Guard. He married a girl from the Bronx, became a father of two, and eventually a grandfather of 5.
Maynard was my best friend, a light, an everyman of a rapidly disappearing generation. Maynard left us on June 20th, 2023.
